Axie Infinity is a genre-blending game, taking the best Pokémon concepts and mixing them with card strategy from games like Magic the Gathering and Hearthstone.
However, unlike those games, Axie Infinity is based on blockchain technology, with each Axie existing as a token (NFT) that is cryptographically owned in a wallet and can be sold and traded if desired.
Gameplay involves raising, nurturing, and fighting cute monsters called Axies. Players can build a collection of Axies and use them in an ever-expanding universe of games! Axie Infinity uses cutting-edge technology called Blockchain to reward players for their involvement.
Axies are the monster pets you use to fight. Each of them has unique stats that come into play during battles.
- Health: The number of hit points your Axie can take before falling unconscious.
- Speed: This determines the attack order and the probability of avoiding attacks.
- Ability: When multiple cards are used simultaneously, the skill increases the combined bonus damage.
- Moral: Increases the chance of a critical hit, as well as the chance of performing “last stand” moves before collapsing.
How to Play Axie Infinity?
Once you get at least 3 Axies from the Marketplace, go straight to the game and sync your Axies: Then, build your team formation in “TEAM”.
Currently, there are a total of 2 game modes.
- Adventure Mode (PvE)
- Arena Mode (PvP)
If you win in any of the game modes, you will be rewarded with an SLP token.
SLP, or Portion of Love, is one of the currencies in the Axie Infinity game and can be traded on exchanges such as Binance and Uniswap. Additionally, Axies can level up by gaining EXP by beating Adventure Mode.
Each adventure/arena battle costs 1 energy. You can still play either mode if you use up all your energy, but you will not receive EXP in Adventure Mode and SLP rewards in Arena Mode.
The maximum amount and speed of power replenishment depends on the number of axes you have. The key to success in playing Axie Infinity and earning SLP is to develop a strong team.
While a skilled player will do moderately well with any team in adventure mode, truly excelling in the PVP arena involves forming a well-balanced team capable of countering other classes and abilities.
With the game still highly active, the game meta is still evolving, with players constantly learning to out-strategize each other.
How do mission systems work when playing Axie Infinity?
There are a total of 3 simple daily quests to complete. You can get a fixed amount of 50 SLP every day by finishing all missions.
Some of the daily quests include the following:
- Daily check-in
- Complete 10 levels of Adventure mode (you can repeat the same level)
- Win 5 Arena mode matches
How does Adventure Mode (PvE) work?
It is recommended that a new player start playing Adventure Mode. You can earn Axie EXP and up to 100 SLP per day by playing. An Axie will become stronger as it levels up (Adventure Mode only).
Another thing to note is that the levels start out easy but get harder to beat as you progress. However, don't give up yet as you can always play the previous level to earn EXP and rewards for your Axie.
How does Arena Mode (PvP) work?
Based on Arena Mode, you will earn different amounts of SLP for each Arena win when playing Axie Infinity. The higher your rank, the more rewards you will receive for winning. Please note that this is an average based on community calculations.
Regardless of the mode, you can still complete your daily quest if you win five matches (even if you win without energy!). So don't give up if you continue, even if you lose in Arena Mode.
Battle System When Playing Axie Infinity
The battle system works the same for both game modes. You will win once you eliminate all your opponents. Likewise, you will lose if your opponents eliminate all of your Axies.
Before deciding your moves, it is recommended to draw up tactical strategies, analyzing the order of play and the opponent's skill. The play order is located above the screen, which determines which Axies move first. You can also see your opponents' stats and cards by clicking on their axes.
After selecting your cards, click “Finish” to start the battle. Another thing to note is that each card requires a different amount of energy cost, so it's important to do the math if you want to save energy for the next round!
Base damage is the minimum damage that will be applied to your opponent, while base shield is the minimum shield that will be applied to you.
How Does the Axies Breeding System Work?
Just like Pokémon, Axies can be bred to create offspring, while each Axie's ancestry is recorded immutably on the blockchain.
Creating an Axie requires two resources: AXS and SLP tokens. Each Axie can be played a maximum of 7 times.
To create, log into Axie Marketplace and click My Account > Inventory. Then select your Axie and click “Race”. Then just combine it with another Axie, analyze the costs, and start creating.
The Axie takes 5 days to reach maturity. Later, you can transform your Axie into an adult.
Each body part has 3 Axie genes: a dominant gene (D), a recessive gene (R1) and a minor recessive gene (R2). The dominant gene will decide an Axie's body part and therefore the Axie's ability card.
Creating an axie is a complicated process and each decision must be carefully thought out to form a well-balanced team. Specially crafted Axies are essential, especially if you want to climb to the top of the Arena (PvP) leaderboards.
